2019 International Graduate Research Symposium

On October 26th, 2019, ULIS-VNU held the International Graduate Research Symposium (GRS).

This is the third time the University has organized such symposium with the desire to promote the scientific research movement for graduate students, thereby creating an academic exchange forum, helping students to have the opportunity to approach new issues in foreign language research and have the best preparation to succeed in learning process. This year’s symposium was attended by many international scholars from the US, Russia, France, Australia, China, Sudan, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.

The symposium was attended by Director of the Science and Technology Department – VNU Vu Van Tich, representatives of VNU member units. On the side of the ULIS, President Do Tuan Minh, Vice President Lam Quang Dong, representatives of different departments, lecturers and speakers attended the symposium.

Delivering his speech at the opening ceremony, Vice President Lam Quang Dong said that ULIS annually enrolled about 200 graduate students studying for master’s and doctoral programs.

GRS is an event for learners and organized by them also. This year’s symposium received 84 papers in which many are from international scholars.

Representing VNU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Tich highly appreciated the significance of the annual GRS when creating a professional and friendly academic forum, bringing many useful values for learners.

This year’s symposium focused on the topic of “Linguistics, language education and interdisciplinary education”. At the plenary sessions, over 70 papers were presented. The papers were a variety of research topics, approaches that provided many new points and shown the enthusiasts, the spirit of learning and research of the speakers.

This year GRS successfully ended after an exciting working day with about 350 participants.

The upcoming GRS will be organized on October 26, 2020. We look forward to scholars’, researchers’ continued interest, paper submission and participation at the Symposium.
