The 2018 International Graduate Research Symposium was successfully organized with the participation of 285 scholars from different countries.
On October 26th, 2018, ULIS-VNU organized the second international graduate research symposium for graduate students to share research results, academic achievements and update their knowledge.
The symposium was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Tich, Head of VNU’s Science and Technology Committee; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lam Quang Dong, ULIS’s Vice President; representatives of ULIS’s units, members of the organizer, and 285 scholars from ULIS, other universities in Vietnam, America, Australia, China, and French-speaking community.
Delivering his opening remarks, Vice President Lam Quang Dong said: “IGRS is an academic forum where graduate students can enjoy better access to research issues, pilot new ideas, and apply theories to practical research projects.”
He added: “The Symposium provides new researchers with opportunities to share and exchange knowledge as well as learn from others, thereby excelling their research directions, clearing research problems, contributing more appropriate, reliable, certain, and valuable research for societies.”
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Tich observed that IGRS was an important activity in terms of science research and training activity for the University itself and the country also.
At the Symposium, 2 plenary papers were presented by Prof. Raqib Chowdhury from Monash University (Problematizing criticality in the social sciences) and Prof. Rosemary Orlando from Southern New Hampshire University (Vietnamese English Language Teachers’ Changing Landscape: Challenges, Gaps, and Opportunities).
Later, the participants joined parallel sessions at 7 panels where over 56 papers were presented, which reflected a diversity of research topics with new perspectives and higher passions.
