Granting scholarships to support study, research and international publication costs for foreign students who are applying for Doctoral and Master’s programs at the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi

The University of Languages and International Studies announces of granting scholarships to support study, research and international publication costs for foreign students who are applying for doctoral and master’s programs at the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University in 2019, Hanoi as below:

1. Eligibility

Successful candidates who are foreigners are admitted to the M.A. and Ph.D. degree training programs at the University of Languages and International Studies (ULIS).

2. Scholarship value

Every year, based on funding sources; ULIS allocates scholarships to attract foreign candidates to enroll in the M.A. and Ph.D. degree training programs. The scholarship value may vary depending on the attracted learner policy of the University of Languages and International Studies each year.

The scholarship value is equal to the tuition fee paid by the applicant in accordance with the regulations at the time of that school year.

Annual scholarships can be granted in 2 terms:

• Successful admission candidates who are foreigners are awarded a scholarship worth 60,000,000 VND (Sixty million VND) to complete the course and defend a Ph.D. thesis on time.
• Research students have articles published in international scientific journals on the list of ISI/Scopus databases (named after the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU)) awarded 16,000,000 VND (Sixteen million VND) per article. Support for international scientific publication is carried out in accordance with the Guidance No. 70/HD-DHQGHN on January 3, 2018, on supporting international publication and registration of intellectual property rights for learners at VNU.
• Research students have articles published in international scientific journals on the list of ISI/Scopus databases (named after the University of Languages and International Studies – Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU)) awarded 16,000,000 (Sixteen million VND) per article.

3. Scholarship procedures

For candidates admitted (the first year) to the M.A. and Ph.D. degree is required to apply (according to the form in Appendix 1) to request the granting of the first scholarship to Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Languages and International Studies.

For students/ fellows granted the first scholarship (from the second year onwards) submit the achievement report (according to the form in Appendix 2) to request continuing scholarship for the following years to Faculty of Graduate Studies at the University of Languages and International Studies.

4. Candidates’ responsibility

Use scholarships for the right purposes, requirements of VNU-ULIS, organizations and training units as well as individuals granting scholarships; serve study, research and daily routines.

Actively strive in learning, research and training, meeting the criteria for supporting complementary studies for graduate students.

Fellows who violate the provisions of this document will not be included in the scholarship award.

Provide transparent and accurate information about the process of learning, scientific research and the situation of their jobs after graduation, at the request of training units and organizations and individuals granting scholarships.

Have a sense of responsibility for coordinating with VNU-ULIS to broadcast brand images of ULIS through scholarships programs awarded to graduate students.

Have a sense of responsibility for completing the course and defending the dissertation and thesis on time. In case of not completing the training program on time, the applicant must repay the entire scholarship to ULIS for the applicant.
